WELCOME TO
ISLANDS COMMUNITY CHURCH

Islands Community Church is a church that practices the biblical purposes of Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. That is, we bring God glory by worshiping Him, by loving other believers, by becoming like Christ, by serving others with our gifts, and by telling others about Him.

In sum, our mission is changed lives.

Our intent is to be a fellowship of believers committed to the Lordship of Christ, to each other, and to a pilgrimage which reflects God’s nature and the ways He has for His people. We are committed to a godly alternative to the trends of today.

We acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, and a life founded on biblical principles. We have committed ourselves to walk in New Covenant love for one another. Jesus taught us to love one another as He has loved us.

Thus, we are characterized by our desire to make Jesus the center of our life. He is the Good News, and the One we worship and proclaim.

We want you to know what Islands Community Church is and what it does. We want you to know Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life. We believe God is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God. His promise of forgiveness and eternal life begins the moment a person commits by faith to Him.

If you do not have pastoral care and a church family, we invite you to be a part of this church based on God’s loving call to you, your trusting response to Him, and your desire to be with others here who love Him.

Islands Community Church is only one of many churches that are sincerely serving Jesus Christ. We long for the day when all Christian Churches will walk together in covenant love.

History
Islands Community Church began in 1973 as "Savannah Christian Center" with a public meeting on Sunday afternoon and various home groups throughout Chatham County. Eventually, the name was changed to "Savannah Covenant Church". "Covenant" became the focus of the church's theology because God Himself is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God

Philosophy
The church is more than a mysterious truth, however; it is a functioning congregation built upon and around Jesus Christ. It is those who gather unto Him. It is those who have been born of His Spirit, have followed Him in baptism and are committed to His Lordship.

Evangelism
This ministry is a priority of our church and every believer; it gives focus and direction to the ongoing ministry of all members in bringing others to Christ and into the church.

Baptism
Baptism is the initial physical step of obedience after one has repented of sin and put their faith and life in Jesus Christ.
It is the practice of Islands Community Church to preach Christ as Savior and Lord, and baptize those who accept Him and His work on the Cross.
